Norfolk's Local Moving Company

Tidal Town Moving is a family-run moving company that lives and works in the Norfolk area. We’re not a national franchise with a call center. We’re locals who have spent years building a reputation in Hampton Roads by doing the job right and treating people fairly.

Licensed, Bonded and Insured – We meet all state and federal regulations, including DOT# 4033059 and VA DMV certification. Your belongings are protected from the moment we arrive to the moment the last item is in place.

Trained, Background-Checked Team – Every member of our crew is vetted, trained, and held to a consistent standard. We send people who take pride in the work and treat your home with respect.

Transparent Pricing – Our hourly rate starts when we arrive at your Norfolk address and stops when the last item is placed. No charges for drive time from our lot and nothing added to your bill that wasn’t discussed upfront.

Full Range of Services – Local moves, long-distance relocations, residential, commercial, labor-only, and furniture assembly. Whatever your move involves, we have it covered.

Clear Communication Throughout – You get confirmation when you book, a follow-up before your move date, and a call from the crew when they’re on the way. After the job is done, we check in to make sure everything went the way it should.

Part of the Norfolk Community – We live here, we work here, and we care about the people we serve. Tidal Town Moving is proud to be a trusted name in Norfolk neighborhoods from Ghent to Ocean View to the Oceanfront.

Norfolk Moving Costs by Apartment Size

For a move in Norfolk, we bill by the hour with a 2-hour minimum and no travel fee. The clock starts when the movers arrive and stops when the last item is placed in your new home. Your free written estimate lists the hourly rate and the number of movers, and we confirm the price in writing before you book. Moves start from $275.

The table shows apartment sizes. The figures are based on Tidal Town Moving jobs completed in 2026 across Hampton Roads. Each one is a planning range, not a quote.

Apartment size Low Average High
A room or less $275 $563 $1,020
Studio $360 $646 $1,031
1 bedroom apartment $485 $793 $1,278
2 bedroom apartment $746 $1,083 $1,670
3 bedroom apartment $982 $1,458 $2,128

A few things push a Norfolk apartment move toward the low or high end of its range:

  • Stairs, slow elevators, and a long walk from the truck to your door
  • Whether we pack for you or you pack ahead of time
  • Beds, desks, and tables that need to come apart
  • The drive between your two addresses, since the clock keeps running on the road
  • How ready you are, with boxes taped and sealed and a clear path to the door

If the scope changes on move day, we explain how it affects the total before we keep going. Payment is due when the job is done, by cash or major card, with a 3% fee on card payments.
