Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I schedule my move?
The earlier the better to ensure you secure your preferred date. 2-4 weeks is what we prefer, but if you plan on moving during our peak times (Summer, End of Month, and Weekends), please schedule 4-6 weeks before your planned date.
What type of moves do you handle?
Our team provides all moving, packing, and unpacking services, both to residential and commercial clients.
How much will a residential move cost?
The cost depends on factors like home size, distance, and additional services. Please contact Tidal Town Moving for a free estimate.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and all major credit/debit cards. There is a 3% fee for credit card payments.
Is Tidal Town Moving licensed and insured?
Yes, we are fully licensed with the Public Utilities Commission of Virginia and we carry Cargo, Motor Vehicle, and General Liability Insurance.
Do I need to empty out my dressers when moving?
No. You can leave your clothing in your drawers. Your dressers will be shrink-wrapped and padded, which will protect them while in transit and prevent the drawers from opening.
Can I schedule a move without me being there?
We prefer that you are present for all or most of the moving process.

I love writing reviews for companies like this! My wife called the office and got a quote over the phone. An email followed with all the details. The phone call and the email were the same...no bait and switch here. On the moving day, the movers called in advance to let us know when they'd be arriving and then arrived on time. They each introduced themselves and shook our hands. I gave them the run down of our needs, and they went right to work. Zero music, zero smoking, zero BS-ing, and almost zero conversations from the time they started loading the truck until they were done. I honestly couldn't believe it. The last time we hired a local mover, it was a complete nightmare...this IS NOT that. Lorenzo, Jarick, and Jordan were very respectful of me, my wife, and our belongings. They were polite, well-spoken and exhibited tons of hustle (while still being very careful). While I hope not to move again locally, if I do, I will call Tidal Town Moving in a heartbeat! Tidal Town Moving is 10/10!From calling in to get a quote, to the quick response and turnaround time for scheduling, everything was amazing. Everyone was so kind and explained everything clearly to make sure I understood and felt comfortable with the services I was getting.The reminder the day before, plus the call and text letting me know the movers were arriving soon, was also really appreciated.The movers who arrived were Ernan, Corey Jr., and Padra, and these men were PHENOMENAL. They were quick, attentive to detail, and made sure everything was wrapped and strapped down properly so our belongings stayed safe during the move.We made 3 stops, and they handled every single one efficiently while still being careful and professional. They maintained that speed and attention to detail while working on one of the hottest days so far in 2026. It was over 90 degrees outside, and they were given a truck without AC, yet they still powered through and finished quickly.I can confidently say I could not have done even a quarter of what they did in that heat.They were also incredibly friendly and made sure everything was placed exactly where we wanted it during unloading. They even moved a few pieces around multiple times until we were happy with the placement.10/10 experience. Give these guys a raise!My only complaint with Tidal Town Moving: give these men a truck with AC!!! They work extremely hard and deserve at least a little cool air after loading and unloading all day.

Ernan explained the whole process from start to finish and was transparent with the charges and what was used. I didn't catch the names of my other movers but all 3 took exceptional care of my items. I had a heavy gun safe moved with Tidal Town Moving, house to house (on a hot day) the guys were amazing! Fast and efficient. Safe was moved with 2 guys and straps. Carrying the safe. The guys did a great job moving our furniture into our home. They the truck was loaded nicely, furniture was wrapped and protected, and I was able to dedicate time to other things while they were getting the job done. A few things to note, the weekend was quite expensive and the military discount is only 5%. There is a $150 travel fee and I felt rushed to get started. Overall, I am happy with my experience.

Giovanni and his crew were phenomenal! They moved us on the last day of February and nothing was bent, chipped or broken like when we used past movers. They were prompt and on-time. The professionalism we received from the beginning during our assessment to day of move was great. Boys worked hard and quickly, but were careful and caring of our stuff. Although labor costs have gone up quite a bit in the last year, it was well-worth the peace of mind and extra help my husband and I needed for this move. We plan to settle where we are for a while but if we ever need professional movers again we plan to go with Tidal Town Moving. Thank you again for your help!

Despite being placed in a difficult situation, they showed great resilience and communication while navigating EXTREMELY large, solid wood, king size bedroom furniture set pieces out of one home and into another up a flight of stairs that pivot midway. I am extremely grateful to them for their perseverance, careful handling, and personability through this process. 10/10👏🏼 Please stay safe and I wish you both the best!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼Another mover was requested day of, but was denied. Before move, I was told over the phone rate is “$/hour at minimum of 2 hrs” and “a king sized furniture set from Virginia Beach to Chesapeake should not take more than two hours” (it took >4 hrs) and ”we don’t recommend a third mover unless any of the pieces over 500 pounds”— what about staff safety and time efficiency? Oop— forgot those things weren’t profitable 😬Initially I thought, “How are — never mind, they’re the professionals.” Had I known better, I would have been adamant for a third mover to reduce cost (I ended up paying DOUBLE the estimate) save time, and most importantly, provide adequate support for the safety and wellbeing of the moving crew and of clients belongings. Tighten up, Tidal Town.

I’ve used Two Men and A Truck as well as All My Sons to move within Hampton roads, and it cost nearly 3k each time! Tidal Town packed me up and moved me from VB to Richmond for the same price. Contacted Tidal Town to help move some equipment for the Neptune Festival Parade. As always, they were timely, cost effective, and very professional! Sean, Matt and Mitch helped us figure out how to safely move and mount large benches onto one of our floats. They made sure not to disturb any of the other equipment in the area and saved us time and effort! When it comes to moving equipment, furniture or even large items like these benches, don't take the risk of using untrained day labor. Do it right the first time by using Tidal Town Moving! We'll be using them again for our next project.
